For defence-adjacent work I lean heavily on patent filings (Google Patents and Espacenet are gold), government contract award databases like SAM.gov or FPDS, and trade show exhibitor lists — you'd be surprised how much competitive intel you can piece together. LinkedIn job postings from competitors also reveal a lot about where they're investing. It's slower than a standard analysis but you can build a solid picture over a few weeks.
