How do defense contractors usually research buyer decisions for new tech?

Trying to understand how procurement teams at defense agencies actually evaluate new suppliers. Not sure if standard B2B research methods even apply here.

Standard B2B methods do apply but with a twist — defense contractors lean heavily on win/loss interviews and procurement officer advisory panels since public survey data is pretty sparse in this space. Tools like Deltek or GovWin are go-tos for tracking procurement patterns and past award data. Honestly, direct interviews with former contracting officers tend to surface more actionable insight than any survey would.
