Has anyone done customer segmentation for semiconductor buyers?

Our client sells to both OEMs and contract manufacturers and we're trying to figure out how to segment them meaningfully. Open to any approaches that worked.

We've done this a few times in semi. The OEM vs. CM split is actually less predictive than you'd think — we found segmenting by design-in influence vs. pure procurement role (and volume tier) gave much cleaner segments. Ran a k-means cluster on behavioral data combined with a short needs-based survey, ended up with 4 actionable segments that held up across both buyer types.
