How do you track emerging materials in the specialty chemicals space?

Trying to stay on top of bio-based alternatives but there's so much noise. Curious how others are filtering signal from hype.

Honestly the best filter I've found is tracking patent filings through Espacenet or Derwent alongside startup funding rounds — if a bio-based material is seeing both, it's usually past the hype stage. I also follow a short list of procurement leads at Evonik, BASF, and a few mid-tier compounders on LinkedIn since they signal real adoption faster than any analyst report. Trade shows like specialty chemicals tracks at ICIS events are still underrated for separating lab-stage from commercial-ready.
