Best way to do pricing research for industrial equipment?

Our client sells heavy machinery and wants to know if their pricing is competitive. Thinking conjoint but not sure if that works well with such a niche B2B audience.

Conjoint can work but sample size is the killer with niche B2B — you'll struggle to get enough respondents for reliable part-worths. Honestly, for heavy machinery I'd lean toward in-depth interviews combined with a competitive price ladder exercise (show them 3-5 price points and ask where they'd switch suppliers). If you do go conjoint, keep attributes to 4-5 max and consider a simplified menu-based version rather than full CBC.
