How do you segment customers in last-mile delivery research?

Working on a project for a courier client and not sure whether to segment by business size or shipment frequency. What's actually worked for you?

Honestly, shipment frequency tends to be the stronger segmentation variable for last-mile — it captures urgency sensitivity and willingness to pay for speed much better than business size alone. We usually layer in a secondary split by delivery destination type (residential vs. commercial) since that drives such different expectations. If you can, run a quick cluster analysis on those two dimensions before your main survey to validate the segments hold up.
